Essential oils have more benefits than you think. They can be one of the most valuable additions to your daily routine. Here are a few suggestions on how to use them.
Use a diffuser
A good quality one for sure. These can be more expensive but they are well worth it. There are cheaper ones you can buy but don’t expect them to give you the same benefits. The better quality ones usually last longer and stretch farther. Diffusers are also great for sleep so when choosing your oils, Lavender and Frankincense are the most common oils to buy to promote sleep and relaxation.
Oil burners are one of the best ways to make your home smell beautiful. If you use an oil burner, it can literally fill your whole place with a sweet smelling aroma and it burns for hours! I live in a one bedroom apartment and it had my whole apartment smelling so nice. I had worked out, cooked, cleaned the litterbox and I swear all you smelled were the essential oils. 😉 About 4 hours later the oil was still burning and I still had some oil left to use for the next day.
In your hair routine
Definitely a must, especially if you have natural hair. It will also make your conditioner smell so heavenly. Essential oils are super effective especially in the winter when the hair is the dryest. Add a few drops to your conditioner to give it the kick it needs to lock in moisture. Some of the most common essential oils for natural hair are chamomile, peppermint, and lemongrass.
Use if you are sick or to prevent sickness
This may come as a surprise to many people but essential oils are an excellent tool for fighting or colds or the flu. Frankincense essential oils are very beneficial in fighting colds and the flu due to it’s natural cold-fighting abilities. Draw a hot bath and drop a couple of drops of frankincense along with a couple drops of a few other good quality essential oils to provide. This turns your bath into a decongestion and can also relieve back pains.
The best oils to buy
Quality is very important when purchasing essential oils. Some of the top brands are young living, doTERRA, and Plant therapy essential oils. Buy oils according to your needs for example if you are sick frankincense and oregano essential oils are great for cold’s and upper respiratory problems while tea tree oil has great germ killing and antifungal abilities.
Use with caution
Essential oils are VERY potent so be it’s not recommended to run pure essential oils on your skin as this can cause irritation. If you are going to use essential oils on your skin please make sure you dilute them with a carrier oil like jojoba oil.
